Podium Advanced Technologies gold sponsor of SquadraCorse PoliTo

Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, 26 August 2018 - Podium Advanced Technologies supported Politecnico di Torino SquadraCorse in a successful 2018 racing season. Since 2013 Podium Advanced Technologies have backed the Politecnico di Torino team with engineering support and components, helping the students designing and manufacturing cars with a wide spread set of sponsors with the likes of FCA, Brembo, Pirelli and other automotive Tier 1 leaders. Podium Advanced Technologies Battery Management System equipped, this year as well, the high voltage battery pack that has been realized using the Heavy Wire Bonding technology provided by our new Laboratory. Formula Student is a worldwide engineering competition devoted to technical universities where engineering students from all over the world compete in designing, developing, building and driving a single-seater competition car. Since some years the team has been dealing with the electric all-wheel drive, a new frontier that combines high performance with low energy consumption. The latest results are very encouraging: the SC18 Integrale, latest Politecnico fully electric single seater, is equipped with a 600 V battery pack and can reach 130 km/h, weighing 199 kg and taking 2.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. Particularly interesting is the efficiency, one of the parameters measured during the endurance race, showing how the Team was not only able to complete the test, but also to consume as low as possible. In Barcelona the team experienced six extremely intense days with many satisfactions and many problems to sort out – making all the young engineers resort to all their resources. Wednesday was the first day, with the scrutineering of the machine and the battery pack, where they performed very well in the latter. After some technical issues on the prototype the car succeeded in finishing the Endurance with a good pace; unfortunately, some penalties due to the delays gathered during the days resulted in a final overall 13thplace. This year the team scored an outstanding third place in Varano dé Melegari in the Italian race of the Formula SAE Italy championship bringing back to Turin the bronze medal. In the “electric” category the Student Team was confronted with prominent opponents from different Universities: DHBW Ravensburg’s Global Formula Racing eV, DHBW Stuttgart’s DHBW Engineering Stuttgart, Strohm und Söhne TH by Nünberg Georg Simon Ohm, Blue Flash Mobility Concepts HAWK Göttingen, TU Graz Racing Technical Team of the University of Graz, Joanneum Racing Graz of AS Joanneum Graz, Dynamis PRC of the Polytechnic of Milan.
